“I am the owner of Gryphon, a Friesian gelding that Sandra trained for 2 months and then showed at First Level. He didn’t have his right lead at the canter and motivation was a problem for him at least when I rode him. Within an hour she was consistently getting the right lead and having fun riding him. I love the trainer and teacher that Sandra is and is always striving to be. She uses her intuition with the horse and her students by watching and listening to the horse and/or rider she is teaching. I am an older rider and she gave me her respect, helped me to build confidence and to enjoy the dance. Thanks Sandra!”
Do you take in horses for training in Maine?
I am currently available for training on a selective basis. I prefer to work with horses that are already well started under saddle. My personality is well suited for sensitive horses that need an encouraging, gentle touch with a lot of patience. I have a special love for baroque horses (Andalusians, Friesians, Lusitanos, etc) but am happy to work with all breeds and many of my clients have Morgans, Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds. I work to improve dressage basics, tempo, rhythm, and thoroughness.
Where do you board your training horses?
Currently I can take horses in for training at Isaac Royal Farm in Dover-Foxcroft where my horse is stabled or at Elysium Sport Ponies in Atkinson, ME. Both facilities have an indoor arena, stabling and turnout.
