Nico, whose registered name is Cobus Fan De Hill, is beautiful Friesian gelding from the Netherlands. He came into my life nearly two years ago, and from the start, I knew he was something special — a future superstar in the making.

When he first arrived, Nico was understandably unsure and sensitive to his new surroundings. It took time, patience, and lots of quiet connection to help him feel grounded and safe.

Through groundwork, liberty, and gentle trick training, I watched him begin to trust, soften, and truly settle into his new home.

Now, his playful and curious personality shines through every day. He makes me laugh constantly and reminds me that joy and lightness are just as important in training as discipline and focus.

We’re exploring dressage together — leaning into the beauty of the French classical style that complements his natural grace — and recently Nico has started a new artistic adventure: painting! 🎨 Watching him explore the canvas with curiosity and expression has been incredible.

Nico is growing into himself more and more each season, and I can’t wait to see how his journey unfolds — from dressage and liberty to art and beyond. He may be following in Douwe and Rovandio’s hoofprints, but he’s already finding his own rhythm and voice along the way.
